Spanish Town, five 1927 Spanish Colonial Revival homes by Benedict Bruns on Talcott Place and South Crescent Avenue, is stucco with tile roofs rather than brick. On the prewar houses, mortar can be anything from pure lime and sand to a lime and Portland blend, and the classic failure is a later repair in hard Portland cement that traps moisture until the brick faces pop off, so new mortar has to be no stronger than the original.
