Seeing white chalky substances (efflorescence) below a limestone belt line as pictured above indicates water is intruding into the gap where the two materials converge. These gaps between different materials should be caulked to allow for the differing movements during expansion/contraction when it freezes or thaws

Seeing discolored brick in your wall can mean 1 of 2 things: either there is dirt and grime running off (easily removed) or there is mildew growing inside of the brick and mortar. Mildew indicates prolonged water intrusion which should be addressed to avoid further damage and repairs. The issue resulted from open coping joints at the top of the roof. Check your roof copings every 3 years to ensure the joints and seams remain sealed and water does not enter the wall to begin the damage.
