The caulking where the flue extends through the capstone was not replaced every 3-5 as needed, which has resulted in the need for tuckpointing and brick replacement below

Open seams where the clay flue protrude from the capstone and where the roof flashing around the brick will allow water into the wall interior causing damage such as this. Make sure you keep those joints sealed. Check every 3-5 years!
